How We Help

If your need is financial, a team of two or more of our Board Members will meet with the qualifying veteran to determine how we can help.  The veteran needs to first call the office and be pre-screened to determine eligibility.  Once eligibility has been established, an appointment will be made.  To be eligible, the veteran must meet these qualifications:

  • Have at least two years of service (or is receiving veterans’ benefits)
  • Have a DD-214 in their possession to bring to the meeting
  • Be a resident of San Joaquin County (proof by bringing in a utility bill)
  • Have a driver’s license or California I.D. card, and a VA benefits card

Some of the ways we help are as follows:

  • Rent assistance or security deposits
  • Utility Payments
  • Gas cards
  • Groceries
  • Repairs

Please note that if you have been helped in the past, you may not be eligible for further financial assistance from us, but we are always here to help you with non-financial matters – just give us a call or email us at davcharitiessjc@gmail.com

We have a bus pass program that provides the veteran with 30-day unlimited bus rides.  A bus pass can be provided every month once you are enrolled in the program and all guidelines are maintained.

If you have a claim that you need assistance with, we may be able to set an appointment for you with one of our knowledgeable Board Members to help ferret through the paperwork.

If you need furniture and/or household items, we have a warehouse full of these kinds of items that we can arrange to have you view and choose.  Just call our office for an appointment or email us at davcharitiessjc@gmail.com
